Once upon a time, a 12-year-old girl who was working as a horse guide in Catalonia fell in love with a corrida horse named Laratxe. The owner offered her a good price for the animal and her father, in order to frighten the little girl, explained to her that he would buy it under one condition: “You will have to go back to the North of France by yourself with your horse, camping at night.” The little girl accepted but fortunately, her mother, still in France, brought her back to reality.

At the age of 25, the idea was still in the girl’s mind and she decided to cross Central America with horses. Then she met Francois in Paris, this December 26th, 2007. He dreams of quitting everything for these far away countries where music is danced in couples. The personal challenge is going to become a great adventure lived and shared by both of them.

Modern societies do not always allow people to keep a simple view of things and ourselves. We like blue because it is the fashionable colour this summer. We dream to go to the Maldives because that the brand new exclusive destination for vacations. We shop designers’ clothes because that gives you social recognition. Travelling on your own is above all a way to occult this protocol and social phenomenon in order face yourself, to learn about your limits and finally to go and meet the world and its different cultures with perfect sincerity. This is our way and our quest to happiness but the notion of happiness can be different for each of us.

For some, happiness is "drawing subjectively world contours trying to approach it closer and closer, giving relief to little things of life; managing difficulties and obstacles, appreciating simple things that we decide to see rather than to look at, to listen rather than to ear, to live fully; here is this happiness at the end of the handlebar, away..." For Francois Massonnet (2), "Comes the day when all doubts disappear and when the fact to achieve your dream becomes an evidence."

Cycling, walking or horse-back riding… Each traveller chooses the transport way that matches the best with one’s expectations. Travelling with horses is above all a matter of Love.

The rider is responsible of his horse team as well as him-self.
It is an ecological way to visit the world and a true return to nature, as with horses, crossing cities is not possible.

Finally, it is a wonderful adventure that we would like to share with other travellers and with YOU!

This website’s goal is therefore to promote travels with horses on your own. We hope to incite other adventurers to dare and to undertake.
